FPSO GLITCH: GNPC AND GHANA GAS WORK SWIFTLY TO RESTORE GAS SUPPLY
The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and Ghana Gas have announced a temporary interruption in gas exports from the Jubilee Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel, named Kwame Nkrumah FPSO, to the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant (GPP) due to a technical fault.
In a joint statement released on Sunday, May 11, 2025, both organizations revealed that the incident took place around 4:30 PM on Saturday, May 10. The fault, referred to as a "technical issue," caused a system trip that temporarily suspended gas transmission to Atuabo.
“The operator is working diligently to diagnose the cause of the issue, carry out necessary repairs, and resume gas supply to the Atuabo GPP swiftly and safely,” the statement noted.
GNPC and Ghana Gas mentioned that their technical teams are collaborating closely with the FPSO operator to resolve the problem as soon as possible. Although the gas export system has been impacted, they confirmed that oil production on the vessel continues without disruption.
“We assure the public that oil production operations on the FPSO remain stable and unaffected,” they emphasized.
The two institutions also thanked stakeholders and the public, saying, “We are grateful for your ongoing support and understanding.”
