GHANA GOVERNMENT TO TRANSFORM FUEL STATIONS TO EV CHARGING HUBS
Energy and Green Transition Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, has unveiled an ambitious plan to convert many traditional fuel stations into electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs. He stated that this initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to support Ghana’s shift to clean energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Speaking at an energy policy forum on Wednesday, March 19, Jinapor highlighted the government's vision for Ghana’s transportation future, emphasizing the need to prepare for the inevitable transition to electric vehicles. He added that electric cars will soon become more common on Ghanaian roads, with a major transformation expected within the next decade.
