SPRINGFIELD BREAKS GROUND: GHANA’S AFINA WELL SET FOR RECORD-BREAKING DEEPWATER APPRAISAL
The Springfield Group, an indigenous upstream petroleum company, has announced the arrival of the Deep-sea Bollstra rig to begin appraisal activities on the Afinex-1x well located in the company’s West Cape Three Points offshore block. He stated that the Afina well is projected to contribute approximately 50,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) to Ghana’s production capacity. This appraisal program initiation follows a ruling by the international court of arbitration on July 8th, 2024, which granted Springfield approval to complete the unitization of the Afina and Sankofa fields. The tribunal recommended that this action be undertaken within a six-month timeframe.
