Ghana Gas to Halt Operations: Two-Week Shutdown Ahead

Ghana National Gas Limited Company (Ghana Gas) has announced a planned shutdown of its Gas Processing Plant (GPP) and offshore Gas Export Facilities, starting from August 1st, 2024, and lasting until August 17th, 2024.

The two-week shutdown is aimed at enabling critical safety and essential maintenance works to enhance the plant's operational efficiency and ensure an uninterrupted gas supply.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah, Head of Corporate Communications, on Wednesday, July 31.

The maintenance works are expected to improve the overall performance and reliability of the facilities, ensuring a stable and continuous supply of gas.

Ghana Gas has assured that all necessary measures are in place to minimize any potential impact on gas supply during the shutdown period.

During the shutdown period, the statement said, Lean Gas from the Sankofa-OCTP field will be available for delivery at the Takoradi Distribution Station (TDS).

“Ghana Gas deeply regrets any inconvenience that the shutdown may cause but assures the general public that there will be uninterrupted power supply during the shutdown period.

“We are committed to maintaining the highest standard of safety and operational efficiency,” the statement said.
