The Deep Value Driller (DVD), a highly sophisticated drillship, has begun operations off the coast of Ghana after completing work in Côte d'Ivoire. Featuring cutting-edge automated systems, the rig is considered one of the most advanced globally in terms of efficiency and safety.
This initiative highlights the partners’ continued efforts to extract more value from the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) block, aiming to maintain sustainable production levels and enhance Ghana’s energy security.
Before commencing operations, Eni and its partners conducted extensive stakeholder engagement sessions along the Ghanaian coast. These efforts, involving over 800 fishermen and community leaders, aimed to foster transparency and cooperation. The outreach was carried out in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Petroleum Commission (PC), Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Ghana Navy, Fisheries Commission, and the Ghana National Canoe Fishermen Council (GNCFC).
Eni has operated in Ghana since 2009, focusing on offshore exploration and production of hydrocarbons, and currently achieves an equity output of around 34,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The company leads the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project as the operator, holding a 44.4% stake, alongside partners Vitol (35.6%) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) (20%). Beyond oil and gas development, the joint venture also supports various community-oriented projects, including training programs, economic diversification, improved access to clean water and sanitation, and energy access initiatives.
