SPRINGFIELD E&P SECURES OIL RIG TO BEGIN APPRAISAL WORKS OF A NEW OIL FIELD.

Springfield Exploration and Production (E&P) has contracted the Deepsea Bollsta rig from Northern Ocean Limited (NOL) to oversee the appraisal of the Afina-1x well in the offshore West Cape Three Points Block 2 (WCTP-2) of Ghana.


This partnership, alongside the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and GNPC Explorco, marks a strategic initiative aimed at completing the unitisation process for the Afina-Sankofa oil fields.

The unitisation process is anticipated to deliver substantial value to the government and all stakeholders.

Scheduled to commence in October, the well test represents a significant milestone for Springfield as it strives to become the inaugural independent African oil producer in deep waters.

Springfield CEO Kevin Okyere expressed his pride in this accomplishment, underscoring it as a testament to the company's perseverance and dedication to unlocking Ghana’s oil production capabilities.

He hopes that Springfield’s persistence will serve as inspiration for young Africans to pursue their dreams.

The project follows a recent ruling by the International Court of Arbitration, mandating Springfield to proceed with additional measures in the unitisation process.

Springfield has promptly responded by securing the rig and requisite technical expertise in a remarkably short timeframe.

NOL CEO Arne Jacobsen has voiced excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the potential for enduring collaboration between NOL and Springfield.

This strategic alliance positions both companies to achieve excellence in the forthcoming offshore drilling operations, leveraging Northern Ocean's established track record as an ideal partner for Springfield.

The success of this venture will not only strengthen Springfield’s position as a pivotal player in Ghana's oil industry but also enhance the nation’s prominence in the global energy market.
