Following IPMAN's carefully arranged meeting, it was affirmed that the refinery is dedicated to providing products to more than 30,000 IPMAN members. Currently, regulatory evaluations of the refined products are in progress, awaiting final approval for fuel dispensing.
Notably, major oil marketers such as 11 Plc, Conoil Plc, Ardova Plc, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, OVH Energy Marketing Limited, Total Nigeria Plc, and NNPC Retail have enrolled for product distribution from the Dangote plant, valued at $20 billion.
PETROAN, the association representing owners of petroleum product retail outlets in Nigeria, is collaborating with the refinery to secure product supply. The production of diesel and aviation fuel at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery started on January 12, 2024.
IPMAN's president confirmed the refinery's dedication to providing products to 150,000 of its stations nationwide. Maigandi, discussing the positive meeting, mentioned they are awaiting the refinery's response regarding the specific products.
He added that the refinery has agreed to supply products to the 30,000 IPMAN members, with a network of 150,000 stations across the country.
Expanding on the inquiry about Dangote supplying every IPMAN member and station, Maigandi stressed that Dangote's production is primarily for Nigeria's consumption, with the capacity for both domestic supply and potential export. He underscored the substantial scale of the refinery, describing it as extensive.
Regarding Dangote's commitment to introducing products to the market in January, the President of IPMAN expressed optimism about its feasibility.
There is hope since they have started production. Immediately when they finish production, the next thing is to sell. I can confirm this because I was there myself. And I know immediately he gets approval to sell, he can start selling at any time.
So, it is not a small project. It is a very good thing for Nigeria. They are to start with aviation fuel and diesel. You know that independent petroleum marketers also buy diesel.
Therefore, by God’s grace, our 30,000 members are ready to buy and distribute across the 150,000 retail outlets nationwide. So anywhere you go you will see fuel. The issue of scarcity of fuel will be no more once he (Dangote) starts, Maigandi stated.
When asked further on pricing with the refinery’s management by Punch, he stated,
No, we didn’t discuss the price, but all that we know is that the price is going to be a little bit lower than what we have been selling.”
The Dangote refinery, equipped with two Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems situated 25km offshore, has processed six million barrels of crude oil. It can daily load 2,900 trucks using its gantries, and its products adhere to Euro V specifications.
